Adina Secretan / La Section Lopez

Fri 3 14h - English version / Sat 4 17h - French version

Inspired by the philosopher Gaston Bachelard, who believed that space is lived in with all the partiality of the imagination, Adina Secretan envisaged this piece for silent bodies and projected texts as a sensorial and analytical journey. Part manifesto, part punk performance, part multimedia show, Place addresses issues such as the gentrification of cities, the closing of borders, the personal space that each one of us occupies in both our working and social lives. However, the end effect is not a feeling of powerlessness; quite the opposite. In this militant piece, the performers chose the path of poetic resistance. They cast off their metaphorical shackles by displacing the tiles covering the performance area. Together, they draw the boundaries of a potential new territory, ultimately finding happiness in the creation of a space that is both personal and shared.

Adina Secretan studied performing arts at the Geneva Conservatory and with the Marchepied collective in Lausanne. The Geneva-born choreographer, director, dancer, writer and mediator has embarked on an artistic and militant quest in search of our right to the city and to space. As well as creating her own works, she collaborates closely with female performers from Israel, France and Greece, exploring themes such as eroticism and otherness.
